2 Dead, 20 Injured In Chicago Shootings Over New Year's Weekend: Report

CHICAGO, IL — At least two people were fatally gunned down, and 20 others — ranging from 19 to 54 years old — were wounded in shootings across Chicago over New Year's weekend, CBS reported.

The first shooting of the weekend on Friday took place on the 4000 block of South Federal Street around 7:36 p.m. with a 45-year-old man shot in the arm on his way to meet a seller he corresponded with on social media, the outlet reported.

A 19-year-old man was shot on West Madison Street at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, and then a 53-year-old man was shot to death on Wabash Avenue at around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, according to the outlet.

The 19-year-old had been a passenger in a vehicle with four other people in South Austin, when one of those people, a male, fired a single shot at him, ABC reported.

The shooter and two other people in the vehicle got out and ran away, police told the outlet.

The 19-year-old was taken in critical condition to Mt. Sinai Hospital and was pronounced dead, according to the outlet.

In the second shooting on Wabash Avenue, a total of three people were struck apparently by bullets fired from outside the home they were in, CBS reported.

One person was listed in critical but stable condition, while the second was listed in fair condition, the outlet reported.

The man who was killed was shot multiple times, according to the outlet.
