4 Hurt, 1 Sent Through Sunroof In Hit-And-Run Outside Sox Game: Cops

One victim went over the vehicle and through the sunroof, where they remained until the hit-and run vehicle got into another crash.

CHICAGO — Four people are in custody after a hit-and-run incident in which the driver of a sedan drove into a crowd of pedestrians walking near Guaranteed Rate Field before Tuesday night’s Chicago White Sox game and sent four fans to local hospitals.

The incident took place at 6:22 p.m., nearly 40 minutes before the Sox game started, and took place in the 300 block of West 35th Street, police said. Police said Tuesday night that the driver was driving east on 35th Street when he struck at least four people and fled the scene.

The driver then sped onto the Dan Ryan Expressway. One of the victims was hit and sent over the car and through the car’s sunroof before the sedan sped away, police said. A police spokesman said that the person who was flung into the sunroof remained in the vehicle until it crashed. That victim was listed in serious condition at a local hospital, according to police.
