9 Residents, 6 Kids Removed From Chicago Home From Carbon Monoxide: FD

The nine residents were hospitalized after high levels of carbon monoxide were detected in the home on Avenue L on Chicago's East Side.

CHICAGO —Nine people, including six children, were hospitalized early Tuesday after high carbon monoxide levels were detected in a home in Chicago’s east side, Chicago fire officials said.

The residents of a 2 ½ story home in the 10500 block of Avenue L were taken to a local hospital in fair condition following the incident after being removed after the levels of carbon monoxide were detected just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, officials reported.

Peoples Gas responded to the scene, but it was not immediately clear what caused the carbon monoxide leak, Chicago fire officials said.
