Aireon Luster, 24, Charged With Murder Of 7-Year-Old Serenity Broughton
He was also charged with the attempted murder of 6-year-old Aubrey Broughton.
CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said 24-year-old Aireon Luster has been charged with murder and attempted murder in the shooting. Luster was arrested Wednesday morning in the basement of his grandmother’s home in suburban Riverside, after he was identified as one of two gunmen responsible for the shooting.
Luster was originally arrested in September, but prosecutors said they could not charge him in the shooting due to a lack of evidence. During a bond hearing Thursday, Cook County prosecutors revealed witness statements and cell phone records helped police make the case, a month after prosecutors declined to charge him.
