Abducted Baby Safe, Dropped Off At Illinois Police Station

MERRILLVILLE, IN — The Amber Alert for Merrillville 7-month-old Xeniyah Sanders was cancelled after police said she was dropped off at a police station in Illinois. The girl's mother told police in Indiana that she was abducted by a man driving a vehicle with Illinois plates and was last seen around 5:35 a.m. Monday.

The mother told police a man entered her Merrillville home and took the baby, fleeing through a window, ABC Chicago reported. Police issued an Amber Alert, saying the baby was believed to be in "extreme danger."

Police later said the baby girl was safe and will be reunited with her family, but did not offer additional details.

The person who took baby Xeniyah was not in custody Monday afternoon but was expected to be charged, police told ABC.
