Amtrak Cancels Trains Due To Extreme Cold In Forecast Next Week
The high Monday is projected to be a mere 6 degrees with a Monday night low of 4 degrees below zero.

CHICAGO — Amtrak is canceling its Empire Builder route for Monday between Chicago and Spokane, Washington, due to extreme temperatures in the forecast.
The train service announced on social media that Train 7/27, which had been scheduled to depart Chicago on Monday for Spokane, was canceled, with Train 8/28 canceled between Spokane and Chicago as well.
While Chicago is forecast to see a high of 43 degrees Friday, by Sunday night the predicted low is minus 3 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high Monday is projected to be a mere 6 degrees with a Monday night low of 4 degrees below zero.

On Tuesday, the high is forecast at 7 degrees with a low of 2 degrees predicted Tuesday night, and by Wednesday the high is expected to be up near 21 degrees, according to the weather service.
