Chicago Woman Loses Control, Drives Car Into Lake Michigan: Cops

The Chicago Fire Department rescue team was able to save the woman before her car completely submerged early Thursday morning.

CHICAGO — A 51-year-old woman had to be rescued from Lake Michigan after she drove into the body of water early Thursday morning, Chicago fire officials said.

Police responded to the call of a woman who drove off the road in the 600 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive at around 1:35 a.m. Police said she lost control of her vehicle.

Since the car was partially underwater, Chicago Fire Department dive teams went in to retrieve the woman and were able to save her before the car completely submerged.

The woman had a small cut to her hands and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was listed in good condition.
