Christkindlmarket Goes Virtual In 2020 Amid Pandemic
Organizers said in lieu of the popular event, they will host an online "Home for the Holidays" market from Nov. 1 - Dec. 31.
CHICAGO, IL — This year's Chicago Christkindlmarket will be different amid the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers of the popular event announced Thursday that instead of the in-person market, this year they will host it online.
The event, which typically takes place in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood and at the Daley Plaza, will be virtual this year from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31.
Organizers said in a video that the "Home for the Holidays" market will include some of its usual traditions, vendors and offerings. However, they also said that health and public safety developments, travel regulations and other guidelines in the last few months have made it hard to plan it in its traditional format.

"Since the top priority is the well-being of market visitors, vendors, partners, and staff members, the tough decision has been made to cancel the traditional in-person Christkindlmarkets in Chicago, Wrigleyville and Milwaukee for 2020," the website said.
