CHICAGO — If Patch poll voters had their way, White Sox Manager Tony La Russa would get his walking papers before the All-Star break.

Two-thirds of folks who responded to the Patch poll question, "Should the White Sox fire Manager Tony La Russa?," answered in the affirmative.

Several people, who left comments about the Sox underwhelming season so far, pointed fingers at the names on La Russa's roster.

"The players need to step it up - hopefully Vaughn’s recent success will inspire them. Go Sox!" wrote C. George of Grayslake, Illinois.

The only person in baseball history to fire La Russa — former White Sox GM and Hall of Fame broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson — told Patch's Jeff Arnold that he's steadfastly on the skipper's side.

"When you've got the best manager in the game, which (owner Jerry Reinsdorf) does and you've got the second-winningest manager in the history of baseball, you give him the benefit of the doubt," Harrelson said. "It's just that simple."
