Chicago Flights Significantly Delayed Due To Thunderstorms
Departures from the airport were delayed an hour on average as of 6:30 p.m.
Update, 7:24 p.m.: The Federal Aviation Administration is no longer reporting delays for arriving flights. However, departures remain delayed for an hour on average.
CHICAGO, IL — Flights in and out of Chicago O'Hare International Airport are facing significant delays Saturday because of thunderstorms, officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground delay at Chicago O'Hare International Airport on Saturday, delaying departures as severe weather moved through the area.

According to an FAA notice, all departures are facing hour-long delays on average. The average delay for flights arriving into the airport is 41 minutes as of this writing.

According to the FAA, departing flights from Midway Airport are also delayed an average of 15 minutes due to severe weather.
National Weather Service forecasters said scattered thunderstorms are likely throughout the Chicago area this evening. In addition to locally torrential downpours, the strongest storms could produce gusty winds and perhaps small hail.
There is a chance for additional thunderstorms overnight, forecasters said. The primary threat from any storms overnight will be heavy rainfall.
