  1. The Chicago area's relatively mild temperatures and humidity are about to change as forecast models indicate a surge in temperatures. The forecast estimates highs above 90 degrees and heat indices nearing 100 degrees that are expected to last for several consecutive days. The upcoming heat wave may be interrupted by a cluster of storms midweek, but the region should prepare for potentially dangerous heat levels, prompting the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications to open cooling centers for residents. (NBC Chicago)
  2. Chicago Police are seeking the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident in Logan Square on Jun. 13, where a 21-year-old woman was struck at the intersection of Milwaukee and Kedzie avenues. The vehicle, identified as a gray 1996 Chevrolet with Illinois license plate AH42791, fled northwest on Milwaukee Avenue. The victim sustained injuries to her left side, stomach, and torso but declined medical assistance. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact (312) 745-4521. (CBS News)
  3. A delivery driver from Barraco's pizzeria in Evergreen Park was killed on Friday in an armed robbery. The victim, identified as Orlando Talavera, was found shot in the back and face inside his vehicle in an alley on South Laflin Street in Auburn Gresham at around 2:30 a.m. Authorities have not made any immediate arrests, and investigations are underway. Talavera, who had been with Barraco's for years after moving from Mexico to Chicago two decades ago, was remembered as a dear friend by the pizzeria's staff, who expressed their deep sorrow over the tragic incident.
