Junk Cars Fall Off Semi, Close Down Dan Ryan After Crash
One person was hurt when the truck hit a disabled car Tuesday afternoon, causing the wrecked vehicles to spill onto the highway.

CHICAGO, IL — Demolished cars littered inbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway after the semi tractor trailer carrying them crashed Tuesday afternoon, according to the Chicago Tribune. One person was hurt in the accident that involved the semi and a disabled car, the report added.
According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, near 47th Street, the report stated. The semi hit the side of the disabled car in a right local lane of the Dan Ryan, the report added.
The crash caused the side of the semi to break open, spilling the wrecked cars onto the expressway, the report stated. The inbound Dan Ryan was closed for nearly two hours as crews cleared away the wreckage, according to Fox 32 Chicago.

The injured individual was in the disabled car when the accident happened, according to the Tribune. The person was taken to a hospital, but state police said the injuries were not serious, the report added.
According to Fox 32, the semi driver was cited in the accident.
