1. A man was shot and killed by police in Blue Island early Thursday morning, WGN reports. Officers were conducting a well-being check in a “suspicious car” at the intersection of Broadway and Division. The driver had an AR-15 pistol in the vehicle. No further details were available at press time. (WGN)
2. An off-duty Chicago police officer was shot Wednesday night in the 2200 block of West Maypole. Police officials said he is in good condition after “being confronted by several individuals” and shot in the arm. (Patch)

3. A “majority” of attendees at a Logan Square meeting this week were in support of a plan to convert the Diplomat Motel into housing for the homeless, despite some “rowdy” disruptions reported by Block Club. Plans will be introduced to the City Council later this month, which would lead to renovations in December if approved. (Block Club)
4. Former Mayor Lori Lightfoot will teach at Harvard University this fall, the Tribune reports. In a Health Policy and Leadership course she will “share my experiences and perceptions of governing through one of the most challenging chapters in American history,” according to a statement. 5. It's been a long time coming, but ... Taylor Swift will bring her sold-out “Eras” Tour to Soldier Field tonight for the first of three Chicago shows. The 63,500-seat venue released information on traffic, parking and public transportation ahead of the event, which has been selling out stadiums across the country every weekend as Swift revisits her dynamic discography over the course of a three-hour show.
