Man Being Deported Dodges ICE Agents At O'Hare Airport, Hails Cab

According to authorities, he was being transported from Texas to Romania, and the deportation process required a stop at O'Hare, WMAQ said.

CHICAGO, IL — A man being deported back to his native country of Romania remains at large after he escaped Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents during a June 10 layover at O'Hare International Airport, WMAQ reported, according to authorities. Surveillance video showed Radu Anghel, 32, getting away from two ICE agents after requesting to use the restroom at O'Hare's international terminal, before hailing a cab outside the airport, Chicago police said, according to WMAQ. According to authorities, Anghel was being transported from Texas to Romania, and the process required a stop at the Chicago airport, WMAQ said.

In February, Anghel was arrested by authorities in Texas and handed over to ICE agents, who deported him to Romania for overstaying his temporary worker visa, according to a statement by ICE spokeswoman Nina Pruneda. Pruneda said Anghel was arrested again on May 10 near Roma, Texas and was transferred into ICE custody in Laredo, where he stayed until his planned June 10 deportation.
