Memorial Day 2018: What's Open And Closed In Chicago

CHICAGO, IL — Across the United States, people will be celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, a national holiday to honor those who died in active military service.
Although it's a national holiday, most retail businesses around the city will be open. But it's always idea to call ahead and check.

Here's a look at how Memorial Day will affect institutions and services around Chicago:
Schools: No classes for Chicago Public Schools.

City Government: City Hall and city offices will be closed. County, state and federal government offices will be closed, too.
Chicago Public Library: All branches will be closed.
Chicago Park District: Although the district's offices and most park buildings will be closed, some parks and park buildings will be open but with reduced holiday hours. City beaches will be open for the first day of the season. The conservatories in Garfield Park and Lincoln Park also will be open. Go to the district's website for more information.
Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.
Banks: Most financial institutions will be closed. Call ahead to be sure.
CTA and Metra: Trains and buses for the transportation agencies will be running on normal Monday schedules.
