Michael Jordan's Final Championship Run Focus Of New Doc Series
VIDEO: The 10-part series by ESPN Films and Netflix will look at the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, as well as the success of the NBA.
CHICAGO, IL — This time of year can be especially tough for Chicago Bulls fans of a certain age as they watch teams like the Golden State Warriors and players like LeBron James go through the NBA playoffs. But those fans will be able to relive the glory days of the 1990s thanks to a documentary miniseries that looks at the final season of the basketball dynasty of Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen and, of course, Michael Jordan.
"The Last Dance" is a joint production between ESPN Films and Netflix that will examine the rise of Jordan and the Bulls alongside the NBA's growing success at the time. The 10-part anthology will feature more than 500 hours of unseen footage as it focuses on the team's 1997-98 championship season
The series will be directed by Jason Hehir, who helmed ESPN's "30 for 30" documentaries about the 1985 Chicago Bears and University of Michigan's Fab Five, and it will have the full participation Jordan, as well as other members of the Bulls' squads of that era. It's set to debut in 2019.
