Mom Stabs 7-Year-Old Boy Hiding Under Sink: Reports

The child was airlifted to Lurie Children's Hospital and underwent surgery but remained on a ventilator Monday, according to WTTW.

CHICAGO — A Chicago mother is accused of stabbing her 7-year-old son while he hid from her under the kitchen sink, according to reports.

Llovana Torres, 26, of the 1700 block of West Touhy Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood is charged with felony aggravated battery, police said.

She was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston, less than two hours after using a knife to injure the boy, according to police.

Torres was angry when she woke up to find her son made a mess after she’d been cleaning the previous night, and she hit the boy, WTTW reported, adding that when she couldn’t pull him out from under the sink, she stabbed him repeatedly.

She took the child to her mother’s apartment in the same building and her mother told her to bring the boy to a hospital, according to WTTW, which reported that after her arrest, Torres told her mother not to say what had happened.
