  • The first day of summer was a hot one. So hot, the pavement buckled on DuSable Lake Shore Drive near 47th Street on Tuesday. The high temperature at O'Hare Airport reached 99 degrees, with a heat index that made it feel like 106 degrees. (NBC5)
  • A man was shot and wounded near Castaways Bar & Grill on North Avenue Beach Monday night. The shooter was arrested, authorities said. (CBS2)
  • An influential City Council committee forwarded a plan to roll back fines for getting caught driving six mph over the limit by speed enforcement cameras. Mayor Lori Lightfoot isn't happy about it. The full City Council is set to take a final vote today. (NBC5)
  • Chicago police are no longer allowed to chase someone simply because they run away while being suspected of minor offensives, according to the police department's new foot-chase policy made public today. (WGN9)
  • How's this for GRRREAT! news. Kellogg Company, makers of Frosted Flakes, announced plans to move its corporate headquarters to Chicago. (Patch)
