  1. Chicago's police chief and the U.S. attorney will resign effective Mar. 16 and Mar. 11, respectively. The move comes as Mayor Lori Lightfoot lost her bid for reelection and two challengers advance to a runoff. Police Superintendent David Brown and U.S. Attorney John Lausch Jr. both indicated that they are resigning in order to pave the way for new appointees under a future administration. (USA TODAY)
  2. The City of Chicago has announced new initiatives to combat the opioid epidemic. The initiatives will be funded by settlements obtained from pharmaceutical companies.   3. A vigil was held on Thursday (Mar. 2) in honor of fallen police officer Andres Vasquez-Lasso. On Friday, family, officers, and neighbors participated in a procession to transport the officer's body to Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn. Officers gathered and shared their memories of their fallen comrade. (WGN 9)
