  1. The family and friends of Kierra Coles are calling on the FBI to help find the missing postal worker and plan to increase the reward money for information to find her. Coles was three months pregnant when she disappeared in October 2018. Although police questioned a man seen with Coles in surveillance videos, no one has been arrested in connection with the case. A vigil was held for Coles on Tuesday — her 30th birthday. (CBS Chicago)
  2. Grassroots support for the defund the police movement is slipping as a result of rising violent crime, according to an October 2021 survey conducted by the Pew Research Center. The survey found 47 percent of American adults want increased police spending in their area, up from 31 percent in June 2020. In 2020, state and local spending on police protection totaled $5.7 billion in Illinois, with a total of 37,861 police officers employed in the state. (Patch)
  3. Two people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision on Route 113 in Will County, according to Illinois State Police. The crash involved a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle and occurred near Bauer Road, south of Irish Lane. Route 113 is currently closed, as of the time of this writing, and motorists are advised to find alternate routes. (NBC Chicago)
