Here are the top three stories in Chicago today:

  1. The Illinois State Treasurer will be hosting an Unclaimed Property Auction next week from May 1-5 featuring over 100 items that may serve as interesting gifts. The items chosen for this event generally have been untouched for about 10 years and their owners are nowhere to be found. This auction is held online and prospective buyers must register with iBid in order to participate, this is one of many auctions held by the treasury yearly. All the proceeds from the auction will go to the rightful owner no matter how long it takes to locate them. (NBC Chicago)
  2. Cecile De Mello and Diahann Sinclair sat down with ABC 7 Eyewitness News earlier this week to talk about the organization Teamwork Englewood and its 20-year celebration of servicing the community. Teamwork Englewood has been working with the Englewood residents for the last 20 years supporting them and working with these individuals to provide a better community. The organization will be having a gala to celebrate "20 Years of Teamwork" at Kennedy-King College next Thursday from 6-9 p.m. If you or anyone you know wants to connect with Teamwork Englewood, you can click here. (WLS-TV)
  3. Yesterday, Equality Illinois and its partners from around the state hosted LGBTQ+ Advocacy Day at the state's capital. The purpose of the event was to advance equality for the LGBTQ+ community and raise awareness for the priorities of the community. The event held a parade that was followed by a festival with LGBTQ musicians as well as food, drinks, and merchandise from local vendors. (CBS News)
