Undercover Chicago Cop Carjacked; 2 Shot Before Gunman Arrested
Charges haven't been filed against the suspect stemming from the incidents Thursday.

CHICAGO, IL — An undercover Chicago police officer was carjacked by an armed man Thursday on the Near North Side. That incident eventually led to another carjacking and shootings that injured two people.
The on-duty undercover officer's car was hijacked at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the 600 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to the Chicago Tribune. The officer wasn't hurt in the incident, the report added.
The suspect drove away and then tried to steal a black Nissan Altima near Oak and Rush streets, the report stated. During that incident, the suspect shot the Altima's driver in the arm before successfully carjacking a Jeep, the report added.

The Jeep and the suspect were spotted by police in the 1400 block of Inner Lake Shore Drive, where he again tried to carjack another vehicle, shooting and grazing another person in the arm, the report stated. The suspect then fled into the lobby of a nearby condo building, and he was eventually apprehended, the report added.
According to police, the suspect was discovered with a semi-automatic pistol, and he had been arrested multiple times in the past, the report stated. No charges have been filed yet in the case.

The shooting victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Tribune reports. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
