VP Kamala Harris To Make Chicago Stop On Monday

The Vice President is making her second of three appearances in a month to get in front of Black and Hispanic voters and built support.

CHICAGO — Vice President Kamala Harris will make her second trip to Chicago in less than two weeks when she appears as the keynote speaker at the Unidos US annual conference at McCormick Place, the White House announced.

Harris was most recently in Chicago to honor the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who announced plans to step down as the head of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition last weekend. Harris will address the convention on Monday, which is characterized as one of the largest gatherings of Latino leaders from around the United States.

The group said in a statement that Harris “will focus on the economic power of the Hispanic community and how the Biden-Harris administration is helping to move the country forward on the path to greater equity.”

The Vice President will return to Chicago on Aug. 11 for a gun safety meeting with local officials as Harris makes more appearances ahead of next year’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago where she and President Joe Biden will seek a second term in office.

The stops in Chicago are being billed as opportunities to get in front of Black and Hispanic voters with the hopes of discussing strides made by Biden during his time in the White House and trying to pick up voter momentum ahead of the 2024 election.
