Illinois' billionaire Gov. J.B. Pritzker— whose doubling of the gas tax has funded the infrastructure spending he touts on his private jet tour of campaign events camouflaged as official business — could do something about that.

Snarled traffic caused by Wilson's gas-giveaways on Thursday is a reminder that he has not.

• Next school year will start earlier for Chicago Public School kids. The Chicago Board of Education voted to move up the start of school to Aug. 22. (Chalkbeat)
• After a monthlong delay, the City Council signed off on a $1.675 million settlement with five innocent people who were dragged out of their car by police officers in 2020. Mia Wright will receive $650,000 in damages, while the other four people who were in the car with her will get $243,750 each, Todd Fuerer reports. (CBS2)
