Woman Stabbed In Neck Inside Downtown Bank Dies: Coroner

CHICAGO — A downtown bank worker has died one day after she was stabbed in the neck inside a Chase Bank branch in the River North neighborhood of Chicago.

Jessica Vilaythong, 24, died Thursday evening from her injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The woman was attacked at around 11:10 a.m. Wednesday in the lobby of the bank on the 600 block of North Dearborn Street after talking with a man, police said. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to police and fire officials, authorities are questioning a person of interest, but they had not filed any charges as of Friday afternoon.

Chase Bank branches were closed downtown for the rest of the day Wednesday as a precaution, a spokesperson told Patch.
