1 House Completely Destroyed By Fire After Space Heater Left On

Fire officials said a home was engulfed in flames Tuesday night and caused a neighboring home to catch fire as well.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A fire at a Chicago Heights home Tuesday night completely destroyed a house and caused extensive damage to a residence next door after an unattended space heater caught flame, fire officials told Patch.

Firefighters responded to the home on the 1500 block of Aberdeen Street Tuesday shortly before 8:30 p.m. According to officials, a single family home was completely engulfed in flames by the time they arrived and had caused a neighboring home's attic to catch fire.

Chicago Heights Fire Chief Jeffrey Springer told Patch all occupants from both homes were evacuated and accounted for and no injuries were reported.
