1 Shot In Park Forest Armed Robbery: Police

Police told Patch they are searching for a trio of men who demanded a person's jewelry on Saturday evening.

PARK FOREST, IL — One man was shot during an armed robbery Saturday on Krotiak Road, Park Forest police said in a news release.

According to officials, three men with handguns demanded jewelry and other valuables from a man who was walking into a house on the 100 block of Krotiak Road at around 8 p.m. The man resisted and during the struggle, one of the armed men shot the other in the thigh.

Officers responding on the scene put a tourniquet on the man and paramedics took him to a local hospital where he was treated and released, officials said.

Police told Patch additional gunfire from the struggle hit two nearby houses as well but no one else was injured.

The trio was described as fleeing the area in an "unwashed, dark-colored four door sedan with heavy tinted windows."

Park Forest police are asking all residents in the area to check home security cameras for a car matching that description. Anyone with additional information can call police at 708-748-1309.

"An observant resident is one of our best crime-fighting tools," a spokesperson for the department said.
