2 Carjackers Die After Jumping Into River During Chase: Police
Two people died after jumping into the Little Calumet River early Saturday after police said 5 people stole a Rolls Royce in Chicago.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Two people died after jumping into the Little Calumet River and three other people are in police custody after being apprehended by Illinois State Police troopers on Saturday.
The suspects led police on a chase that started on Chicago’s North Side just after 4:30 a.m. when police were notified a white Rolls Royce was carjacked at gunpoint by the suspects, police said on Saturday.
Troopers followed the vehicle down the Bishop Ford Parkway to south suburban Lansing, where the five suspects got out of the Rolls Royce at 173rd Street and Torrence Avenue and got into another vehicle, police said.

Troopers chased after a black Infinity until it crashed at 127th Street and Indiana Avenue. After the crash, three suspects were taken into custody, but two of the suspects jumped into the river near the scene where the chase ended, police said.
The suspects were pulled from the river shortly after police dispatched a Marine unit around 5:10 a.m. The two victims were taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. On Saturday, the Cook County Medical Examiner identified the two suspects as Curtis Hicks, 21, Chicago, and Amos Gibson, 26, also of Chicago.

As of Monday, autopsy results were still pending, according to the Medical Examiner's office.
