Participants will receive free, comprehensive training on voter registration laws, voter rights, and nonpartisan civic engagement.

LANSING, IL — In honor of the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the NAACP Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch will host a Civic Ambassador community engagement event on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave. The event will highlight the goals of the Civic Ambassador Program for potential 2026 participants.

The Civic Ambassador Program is open to young adults, high school students, and college students interested in civic leadership, voter education, and community engagement across the south suburbs.

Participants will receive free, comprehensive training on voter registration laws, voter rights, and nonpartisan civic engagement. Civic ambassadors will learn how to provide accurate information to community members, support voter registration and education efforts in schools, community spaces, and places of worship, and serve as advocates for fairness, inclusion, and democratic participation.
