$50,000 Worth of Aluminum Stolen from Warehouse: Police

Burglars took or damaged more than $70,000 worth of equipment, according to a report.

Burglars appear to have been after copper and aluminum when they took or damaged more than $70,000 worth of equipment inside a Chicago Heights warehouse.

Police believe the crooks got in through a boarded-up window sometime between March 1 and March 29 in the building located in the 1200 block of State Street, according to a report.

Copper wiring was removed from two solar energy converters, which were damaged in the process, according to the report. They are worth $20,000 combined. About $50,000 worth of aluminum was snatched from crates.

The burglars also took a forklift battery and pieces of copper wiring and pipes from throughout the building, according to the report.

Chicago Heights police are investigating. No arrests have been reported.
