Washington-McKinley Students Organize Holiday Food Pantry

students helped less fortunate families have a brighter holiday season by conducting a Food Pantry at the Chicago Heights school.

In the photo, seven members of the Student Council display some of the food collected for the recent Food Pantry.  To stock the Pantry, Student Council members organized an all-school drive to collect food items such as canned vegetables and soups, cereal, pasta, pancake mix, syrup and peanut butter.

The Student Council has been sponsoring the Food Pantry for the past five years as a community service for those in need.  Student Council officers are Cristina DeLuna, president; Jaime Flores, vice-president; Isaiah Sanchez, secretary, and Elizabeth Leal, treasurer.  Teachers Felicia Gunby and Denise Lira are Student Council cochairpersons.
