Man, 30, Fatally Struck By Car After Walking In Roadway: Hazel Crest Police
Police had been called for a well-being check for the man prior to him being hit.
HAZEL CREST, IL — A 30-year-old Hazel Crest man died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night on 175th Street, police said in a release.
Just before 9 p.m. Thursday, police were called to the 3300 block of 175th Street for a well-being check. A caller told 911 dispatchers that there was a male pedestrian in dark clothing walking in the street, and the caller was concerned he might be struck by a vehicle.
A short while later, police said a 911 call came in reporting a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in that same area. Police located the man, who died after being transported for treatment.

He was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Anthony Asare, 30.
The South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The driver in the incident was not charged, Hazel Crest police said.
