Car Warm-Up Leads to Theft and Hit and Run Accident: Police Blotter

Car Warming Disaster

A 61-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was warming up her car at her Beacon Blvd. home and left the car unlocked because she only has one key. The woman went back into her house, making a startling discovery 20 minutes later. Her car was missing from her driveway. The woman was about to call the police when she got a call from the police, notifying her that her car was involved in a hit-and-run accident and had been recovered, according to the report.

Door Kicker

A 47-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in her Park Avenue home when someone kicked and damaged her front door just after 2 a.m. The woman said heard someone kick her door but did not see anyone at the front door, according to the report.

Funny Money

An employee at Center Liquors, located in the 200 block of E. 14th Street, told police a 26-year-old man wearing all black attempted to pay for his liquor with two counterfeit $20 bills. When the employee told the man he would call the police, the big spender fled, according to the report.

Hair Care Capers

Emelia Nunoz, 42, of the 3000 block of Forest Preserve Drive in South Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with retail theft after an employee of the Walgreens in the 1400 block of Western Avenue told police Nunoz put several items in her purse and exited the store. The items taken included three brands of shampoo, with a total value of just under $20.
