CH Woman Leads At-Risk Youth, Strives To End Child Homelessness
Nominated as a Community Leader in Chicago Heights, Lamekia Davis works with at-risk youth, hopes to end child homelessness.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Without community leaders, Chicago Heights wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

What does this community leader do?
Has a nonprofit 501c3 for youth. She teaches financial literacy to youth and helps prevent them from being homeless.
Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?
She should be honored for her hard work in making sure our local communities' at risk youth have resources and financial literacy. She has partnered with BMO bank to open savings accounts at the end of the program, and she even makes the initial deposit. She is a youth commissioner in the village of Park Forest and was recently elected a Rich Township High School Board of Education member.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?
She loves youth and hopes to have a resource center where she can offer transitional living, job assistance and more, with hopes to end child homelessness.
