Chicago Heights Man Hit, Killed Walking On Dan Ryan Expressway

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A 31-year-old Chicago Heights man was killed while walking on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday morning, Illinois State Police told Patch.

Officials said Keith Hampton was walking in the lanes of Interstate 94 near 35th Street when he was hit by a car traveling southbound. The 31-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene at around 2:50 a.m., police said.

State police said the crash was a hit-and-run and have not identified the car that hit Hampton as of Wednesday afternoon. Police did not immediately respond to questions on why Hampton was walking on the expressway.
