College Boy Went to Jail Instead of School After Attacking Mom: Cops

The mom was ready to driver her son to the train station so he could get back to school. But police say the son had other plans. He wanted to kill her and collect the insurance money, police said. “While she began backing out of the driveway her son asked her to stop the vehicle because he forgot something inside,” reads a police report. “When he returned to the inside of the vehicle he pulled out a 6-inch butcher knife and proceeded to attack.” Mom sped down the driveway, and a relative nearby saw the struggle in the car and called police. The son, Michael Bernhard, went before a judge Tuesday morning.
