Comcast To Host Job Fair and Open House for Military Veterans

Comcast announced plans to hire 1,000 military veterans by 2015 and is holding an open house and job fair especially designed to help veterans

The “Hiring Our Heroes” open house and job fair takes place this Monday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Comcast’s Oak Brook offices at 2001 York Road.

Comcast will provide veterans with information about career opportunities at the company and link them apply for positions that are currently open, a news release said.

"Comcast has hired a number of talented veterans over the last couple of years, and we look forward to hiring more to fill some of the positions currently open in the region," said John Crowley, Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region senior vice president.  

“Veterans have the kinds of experience Comcast values, ranging from strong leadership skills to extensive experience laying cable and working with technology,” Crowley added.

The global media and technology company is currently participating in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s

"Hiring Our Heroes" program that was launched in 2011 to assist military veterans in their transition back to civilian life. Comcast then committed to hiring 1,000 veterans, a pledge the company fulfilled this year. Comcast has pledged to hire another 1,000 by 2015.

“Hiring Our Heroes” also offers a personal branding resume engine designed to help military veterans translate their military experience into a strong resume for employers.

Comcast’s open house and job fair for military veterans will take place from 1-4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at its offices at 2001 York Road, Oak Brook.
