Koester wants to preserve her beauty and the folk-art feel of the sign he believes is porcelain painted on tin and dates back to 1949.

The piece, and he collectors believe is museum quality, but Koester said he'd hate to rip the sign out of the fabric of the community.

He's trying to raise $25,000 for its restoration through the crowdfunding site Go Fund Me.

"The funds received may go to restoring, maintaining or replicating her gleaming beauty to the exact specifications of her current form," he wrote on the site.

As of Tuesday, he was $214 dollars into his goal.
