CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Homewood Heights Baseball & Softball club and the Chicago Heights Park District baseball and softball program are merging to form what they plan to be a youth sport powerhouse for the south suburbs.

Homewood Heights has hired Mike DeButch, a Bloom High School graduate and minor league baseball player who was once drafted by the San Diego Padres, as its director of baseball and softball operations. He currently serves as the assistant superintendent of the Chicago Heights park district.

The new program will debut in the fall.
