Man, 18, Missing In Unincorporated Crete: Will County Sheriff

Samuel Green was last seen the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 5. Searches for him have been unsuccessful.

CRETE, IL — Will County Sheriff's police are asking for the public's help in locating a man reported missing from unincorporated Crete on Wednesday evening.

Deputies just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday responded to a residence in the 23800 block of S. Plum Valley or a report of a missing person.

Responding deputies were told that Samuel N. Green, Age 18, had gone missing at approximately 1:40 p.m., when he was last seen on a Ring doorbell camera near his residence. The person stated that once she realized that Samuel was missing, she went to search for him in the area and was unable to locate him.

Green was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, black sweatpants, with no shoes, socks, or coat. Samuel is African-American, with short dreadlocks, and is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighing 135 pounds.

The complainant told deputies that Green suffers from schizophrenia, paranoia, and other undiagnosed mental illnesses. Green was reportedly prescribed medication for his condition but had not received or taken any due to insurance issues. Due to Green not taking his medications, he may run if approached, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.

Responding deputies searched the residence and surrounding areas on foot and were unable to locate Green. Additionally, numerous members of the Will County Sheriff’s Office K9 team conducted a search of the area, as well as several drones with heat signature capabilities were utilized. A reverse 911 was conducted by the Laraway Communications Center (LCC) advising the public of the missing persons incident. Due to deteriorating weather conditions Wednesday evening, the search was concluded at approximately 9:30 p.m.

On Thursday members of the Will County Sheriff’s Office, Will County Emergency Management, and other law enforcement partners conducted a search of the area and were unable to locate Green.

If anyone has seen Green in the Crete area since yesterday, you are urged to contact the Will County Sheriff’s Office. To ensure his safety and well-being, any sightings of him should be reported to 911 immediately.
