Missing Steger 13-Year-Old Found, 1 Man Charged With Child Abduction

Police said the girl was seen getting into a truck Tuesday and tracked to a Chicago Heights home on Wednesday where 2 men were with her.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A missing 13-year-old is home safe after being found with two adult men, Chicago Heights police said.

According to police, the girl was last seen Tuesday night getting into a black pickup truck in Steger. From there, police tracked the girl's phone and found it was at an address in Chicago Heights.

Police told Patch the same black pickup truck was at the Chicago Heights address.

"Officers made contact with the residents, locating the missing girl and took two adult males into custody," Steger police wrote in a social media statement.

Officials said the Wednesday operation was partially conducted by the FBI. The two men knew the child, police said, but only one knew the child was being taken without the parents' consent.

The man, 24-year-old Jose Delacruz, was charged with child abduction and is currently awaiting a bond hearing at Will County Jail in Joliet.
