No Foul Play In Death Of Missing Crete Man, 18: Will County Sheriff

Samuel N. Green had been missing several days when his body was found Sunday near his home in unincorporated Crete.

CRETE, IL — No foul play is suspected in the death of a missing Crete man whose body was discovered Sunday after he had been missing several days, the Will County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Samuel Green, 18, was found deceased near a drain pipe near his home in unincorporated Crete, the sheriff's office said. Green had been missing since Wednesday afternoon. His body was discovered Sunday around noon, authorities said.

There were no signs of foul play on Green nor in the area he was found, Will County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Kathy Hoffmeyer said Tuesday.

After being reported missing, Green was seen on surveillance cameras heading in the direction of the area in which he was later found, Hoffmeyer said. At the time, he was clothed in only a t-shirt and jogging pants, and was reportedly suffering a mental health crisis, she added.

Sheriff's police found clear evidence of cold exposure as a significant role in his death. An official cause of death is still awaiting autopsy results and toxicology reports, Hoffmeyer said.
