Park Forest police said they arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the Dec. 6 shooting on Thursday. No injuries were reported.

PARK FOREST, IL β€” After a Dec. 6 shooting that nearly injured a young child, police told residents they have arrested someone in connection to the incident which took place on Mantua Street.

According to officials, a person shot at two men walking along the street but missed both, sending the bullets flying into a house behind them. Police said one bullet went through the window of a child's room but narrowly missed the young boy since he was lying in his bed at the time.

After investigating, police determined the shooting was the result of a previous fight between the shooter and the two men. Authorities did not immediately respond to questions on if guns were involved in the prior incident.
