Park Forest Police Rescue Squad Car From 3-Foot Snake
It takes a brave person to pull a 3-foot snake from a car engine. Apparently, Park Forest Police Chief Chris Mannino is the man to do it.

PARK FOREST, IL — It was a dirty job, but someone had to do it. And Park Forest's police chief did.
According to the department's Facebook page, two officers got a surprise during a stop Wednesday night.
Chief Chris Mannino accompanied Officer Stuart Walden on a ride along. While they were driving, they saw a big snake on the side of the road. What did they do? Stop and investigate.

However, as multiple media outlets reported, as the pair stood in awe, the snake slithered under the car and into the engine. They had to rescue their own car from the snake wrapped around parts inside the hood.
"There was definitely some discussion about who was going to deal with it," Mannino told WBBM Newsradio.

Mannino ended up with the honors.
"That's the Chief pulling the snake out. But we have plenty of officers who would have noped it to the next county," a Park Forest officer wrote on the Facebook post.
Just what type of snake it is has not yet been confirmed, although multiple readers pointed out it looks a lot like an Eastern Box snake.
It was found, with the department's apologies, on the Will County side of Park Forest.
