• Chicago Heights Man, 21, Charged With Murder In 2025 Shooting Death Of Dolton Man (patch.com) — A 21-year-old man from Chicago Heights has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the May 2025 fatal shooting of a Dolton man in Park Forest. After a lengthy investigation involving Park Forest police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, prosecutors approved the charge in December, and the suspect remains detained pending further court proceedings.
   

• Rep. DeLuca proposes state tax deduction on gratuities (hfchronicle.com) — A state tax proposal from Chicago Heights-based Rep. Anthony DeLuca could let tipped workers keep more of their earnings by exempting gratuities from Illinois income tax. His bill aims to align state rules with new federal tip deductions and, he argues, ease pressure from rising costs and property taxes on working families statewide.
