Police Blotter: Man Rips Woman's Hair Out in Drunken Rage

SUNDAY, JAN. 8

Violent Drinker

A 22-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her highly intoxicatedΒ ex-boyfriend came to her home with a large bottle of rum and was loud and waking up the children in the apartment. When the woman took the bottle away from her ex, he choked her and grabbed her by her hair, ripping out several strands from her scalp, according to the report. After the woman ran into the bathroom and shut the door, her ex kicked a hole in the door, grabbed the keys to her apartment and fled before police arrived.

DUI Arrest at Savoia

Felicia A. Arevalo, 43, of the 100 block of Zurich Drive in Lynwood, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped on 14th Street for speeding, according to the report. After police activated their emergency lights, Arevalo drove over the sidewalk and stopped in the parking lot of , police said. Arevalo told police she had a couple of drinks, then refused field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer test, according to the report.

Flower Box Attack

Eduardo Aceves, 22, of the 100 block of East 23rd Street, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to a vehicle after a Chicago Heights woman told police he picked up a plastic flower box full of dirt and threw it on the hood of her vehicle while she was inside, according to the report.

DUI Arrest

Lesa A. Demps, 44, of the first block of West 21st Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped near the intersection of 16th Place and Chicago Road, according to police.

SATURDAY, JAN. 7

Bullet Holes

A 28-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he heard four to six gunshots in the area of 13th Street and Vincennes but did not know where they came from. When police arrived they notice four bullet holes in the man's car with four spent shell casings about 50 yards away, police said.

Drug Possession

Adrian A. Austin, 23, of the 18500 block of Hickory Court in Lansing, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police stopped him for turning without signaling and smelled a strong odor of burnt cannabis, according to the report. When asked about the smell, Austin gave police a burnt, hand-rolled cigar filled with cannabis, police said. Austin was also charged with failure to signal, improper display of registration and no proof of insurance, police said.
