Police Blotter: More Than 40 Juveniles Attack Pace Bus

Accused of DUI

Candyce Young, 33, of the 1600 block of Buena Vista in Chicago Heights, was charged with one count of improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt, driving under the influence of alcohol and alcohol concentration of .175. Police said officers pulled Young over just before 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 at the intersection of 183rdΒ Street and Center Avenue in Homewood after observing her vehicle crossing the center road median and continuing to straddle both westbound lanes.

Young Mob Attacks Pace Bus

A 35-year-old Hazel Crest man said he was headed eastbound on 16th Street as Wilson when he noticed a group of 40 to 50 juveniles throwing large rocks at a Pace Bus. Two windows were damaged on each side of the bus, according to the report.

No Water, No Sony Speakers

A 33-year-old Chicago Heights woman left her home in the 1600 block of Thorn Street after the City of Chicago Heights condemned the property due to "no water," according to the report. The woman told police she left Sony speakers and a projector, valued at more than $1,000, when she moved out. When the woman returned to get the rest of her things, the items had been taken, according to the report.

Another Bank-Owned Property Burglarized

A real estate agent was showing a bank-owned property in the 1200 block of Emerald Avenue on Oct. 31 and noticed the rear door had been forced open, according to the report. A 40-gallon water heater, a water meter and a total of about 75 feet of copper pipe had been taken from the property, according to the report. The estimated cost to replace the equipment and repair the damage is $2,500.

Battery

A 45-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she had been in an argument with her husband when he punched her in the face with a closed fist. Police noticed the woman's left eye was swollen but she refused medical attention, according to the report. The husband was arrested without incident and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, police said.
