Police Blotter: Woman Chased With Knife in Big Boy Parking Lot

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5

Uncooperative DUI

Mark A. Jennings, 29, of the 1200 block of Emerald Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said, after he was stopped for weaving in and out of lanes and speeding. Asked if he had been drinking, Jennings said "no," according to the report. Asked to perform field sobriety tests, Jennings replied, "No! I'm not doing no tests!" according to the report. After being taken into custody, Jenning submitted three "insufficient" breath test results before finally cooperating, police said. He had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit.

Going Ballistic at Big Boy

A 24-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in the parking lot of ο»Ώ talking to a woman with whom she has "ongoing animosity." The victim said she made a comment about the other woman's shoes and the other woman "went ballistic" and took out a folding knife, chasing the victim to her car, according to the report.

Pushed and Poked

A 25-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in an argument with her boyfriend when he pushed her in the face with an open palm and poked her in the head with his finger. While the woman said her boyfriend never threw any punches or kicks, she said he did shove her in the back several times, police said. The boyfriend was gone when police arrived, according to the report.

Domestic Battery

A 27-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was instructing her boyfriend to pack up his belongings and leave when he struck her in the face twice with a closed fist. The woman and her boyfriend then began wrestling, according to the report. After the scuffle was over, the boyfriend took the woman's cell phone and fled, police said. The woman refused medical attention.

Six-Pack in the Back DUI

George L. Ashford III, 33, of the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol he was stopped for driving without headlights on, police said. After performing field sobriety tests, Ashford was taken into custody, police said. Police then discovered two unopened cans of Miller High Life in what was a six-pack container in Ashford's backseat. While in custody, Ashford grabbed papers away from an officer and said he "was going to pee on the floor," according to police. Ashford then blew "insufficient air" into the Breathalyzer three times before being counted as a "refusal," police said.
