Steger Driver Charged with Driving Under Influence of Drugs
Chicago Heights police reports, March 17-20.

TUESDAY, MARCH 20
Shots Fired
A suspect in an early morning attack fired a gun into the air in the 400 block of West 14th Place, according to a report. A witness told police he saw two men attacking a third. One of the suspects fired the gun and then took off. One man was seen wearing a black and white sweatshirt. No description was provided of the second attacker.

Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
Victor M. Perez, 20, of the first block of East Sangamon Street in Steger, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving with an expired registration, driving without proof of insurance and failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change, according to a report. Perez was stopped at about 5:37 p.m. near 13th and Chicago. During the stop, an officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver told police he had "smoked a bowl about an hour ago."

Indiana Driver Faces DUI Charges
Angela A. Tite, 21, of the 9800 block of Northcote Avenue in St. John, IN, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and having a defective windshield, according to a report. Police stopped Tite at about 8:45 a.m. near Halsted and Vollmer. An officer said the driver had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. She took field sobriety and breath tests. Tite is due in Markham court on April 19.
