Threat Prompts Police Response At Bloom HS: Principal

The threat was reportedly based on a Snapchat message showing a picture of a gun.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — There was an increased police presence at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights after messages suggesting a school shooting might happen Thursday were posted on Snapchat.

The messages showed a picture of a gun, with a caption that states "Y'all tweaking hard asl ... just wait for twr .... damn." Another Snapchat that was publically posted on Facebook said, "Bloom stay safe y'all ... y'all bloom kids crazy."

Another message shared suggested the threat might stem from a fight. Principal Jerry Lee Anderson sent an email late Wednesday night informing parents that police were aware of the threat. An increased police presence is now at the school.

Patch reached out to Chicago Heights Police for further details. As of Thursday morning, the only comment police had to offer was that the department is aware of it and have extra officers in the school to keep everyone safe.
